Recent remarks made by Ajay Maken, that the Congress’s decision to support the AAP in 2013 led to its decline in Delhi, has only rubbed salt to the wounds.
Addressing a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh slammed Maken for allegedly calling Kejriwal “anti-national” and urged Congress to take action against him within 24 hours. With Chief Minister Atishi by his side, Singh alleged that the Congress was “doing everything” to help the BJP win the Delhi polls.
“Congress’s Ajay Maken is reading BJP’s script… AAP will ask INDIA bloc parties to remove Congress from the alliance if no action is taken against Ajay Maken,” Singh said.
Atishi claimed that the election expenditures of Congress candidates, including that of Sandeep Dixit, were being borne by the BJP.
“Congress’s action makes it clear that the party has made some arrangements with the BJP for the Delhi elections. The BJP is funding Congress candidates. We have heard that Sandeep Dikshit is getting funded by the BJP,” she said.
“If Congress thinks we (AAP) are anti-national, then why did they contest the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with us? It is clear that Congress leaders have reached some mutual understanding with the BJP to defeat AAP and make BJP win in Delhi,” the Chief Minister said.
BJP REACTS TO AAP VS CONGRESS
Reacting to the AAP vs Congress faceoff, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said both the parties “looted” Delhi and were raking up such issues to turn around their fate ahead of the elections.
“15 years ago, Congress looted Delhi and now, for the past 12 years, AAP is looting the national capital… Now, that they have realised that they are losing in the Assembly elections, they are doing every possible thing to turn their fate around… Where was their conscience when, during Lok Sabha, they used to roam around together? BJP has been fighting them both for years,” Sachdeva said.
